Forms of advertising and promotion on eBay – how to advertise products and increase sales on eBay. The most popular advertising and promotion methods on eBay are primarily CPS (cost per sale) campaigns, newsletters, and sales promotions/price reductions. These methods are available to sellers with any eBay store, even the cheapest one on eBay.pl at 8.65 PLN monthly (price as of September 2018). In this article, I’ll describe how to create a product campaign on eBay.
CPS is an advertising model where payment is based on sales value, not on the number of clicks as in CPC, for example on Amazon.
What Advantage Does CPS Have over CPC for Sellers?
In CPS, the type of ads available on eBay, the seller only pays when the product is sold, and the fee is based on a percentage of the order value. So if an order placed through an ad click is worth 100 Euro, and the commission rate/eBay rate is set at 5%, eBay will charge 5 Euro.
How to Prepare a Product Campaign on eBay?
1. If we already have Verkäufer-Cockpit Pro on ebay.de, click on the Marketing tab and select the Anzeigen button:

Similarly, for ebay.co.uk, go to Seller Hub and select the Marketing tab and Promoted listing.
There’s an even simpler way to access ad creation, which is also useful if you don’t have Verkäufer-Cockpit Pro/Seller Hub enabled on your account. Just go to this address for ebay.de:
https://pls.ebay.de/plsweb/dashboard
here for ebay.co.uk:
https://pls.ebay.co.uk/plsweb/dashboard
As you can easily notice, only the ending in the address changes to match the specific eBay version, so instead of searching for the right tab in the panel, for other eBay versions we simply change the ending, so for ebay.com we’ll go to this address:
https://pls.ebay.com/plsweb/dashboard
Similarly for .fr and others.
2. If no campaign has been created yet, click Create your first campaign on this page (this is the English version) or the equivalent button in other eBay versions.

3. In the next stage:

we have the choice of:
- adding products manually: Select listings individually
- adding products in bulk: Select listings in bulk
I’ll focus on the first option.
4. After selecting Select listings individually, this page will appear:

The most important is the middle part of the screen, the product list under Showing 0 – 1 of 1.
Of course, 1 is the number of products, so instead of 1, there will be the appropriate number for your account and filters.
On the left side we have filters:
- store category or eBay category
- price range
- quantity range available on the listing
- listings recommended for promotion – eBay estimates which products are best to add to the campaign
- products with free shipping
- hide products already in campaigns – useful option, shows only products that aren’t in any campaign yet
Products for the eBay campaign can be selected both individually and all from the visible page by checking the square button next to Showing 0 – X of X.
5. The next stage is setting the advertising commission for eBay:

eBay suggests a commission rate and in my opinion, it’s worth following these suggestions, as long as the margin allows it. When the budget available for commission is higher than eBay suggests, you can increase this rate.
6. After proceeding to the final stage:

You can enter your campaign name or leave the one suggested by eBay.
A campaign name can only be used once across all eBay versions.
So if you’re selling women’s handbags on ebay.co.uk, ebay.de and others, each eBay version should have a different campaign name. It’s best to add the eBay version suffix: _de, _co.uk.
Once we’ve named the campaign or kept the one suggested by eBay, we click Launch and the eBay product campaign is ready.

You can add more products to an existing campaign or edit the rate. To do this, in the Manage column select Actions and then the appropriate button, which is Edit campaign:

In the next step, you can change the rate for all products at once using the slider above the product list, or with + and – buttons/slider for each product separately on the right side of each product.
To add more products, click the Add listings button with the left arrow:

I hope this post has helped you understand how to create a campaign on eBay.
Product campaigns are a great way to increase sales on eBay.
That’s why I encourage you to use them. Especially since they’re very quick to set up and the payment method is beneficial for sellers.
In the next part of the article, I’ll describe one form of price reduction, specifically promotions with strike-through pricing.
