Suspended eBay Account and Account Recovery
Any seller can face an eBay account suspension. Suspensions often occur at the beginning of eBay activities when algorithms detect suspicious actions. Whether these actions truly pose a threat to the eBay community is questionable for legitimate sellers, but it’s still very bad news for the account owner.
However, suspension can happen at any stage and occurs even to large sellers with years of history. The cause might even be too rapid sales growth in too short a time. Other common causes include:
- Low account standards. When account metrics fall below “meets standards” or its equivalent in a given market, eBay usually gives 2-3 months to improve performance. If the status isn’t improved, suspension may occur. Such suspensions are very difficult to resolve, which is why every sensible eBay seller planning for growth and long-term presence on the platform should primarily prevent account quality deterioration. This means: verifying all issues promptly, addressing defects when they occur, only offering in-stock items, and always shipping on time.
- eBay policy violations: duplicate listings that don’t comply with policy (eBay describes how acceptable duplicates should look), offering products from unauthorized sources, offering prohibited items.
- Other reasons that we can identify after an account audit.
What to Do when your eBay Account Gets Suspended?
Analyze the situation and try to find the cause of the suspension. If sellers feel confident, they can try to appeal the suspension themselves. If not, I definitely don’t recommend experimenting – instead, contact someone who can help. We provide account reinstatement assistance services for the longest time in the Polish market and probably with the highest success rate. You can learn more here: Reinstate your eBay account
What not to do when your eBay account gets suspended? Most importantly:
- Don’t create additional accounts. The record holders we helped had 9 accounts (!) under their name, family members, friends, or even neighbors. Unfortunately, this won’t work and only makes it harder or even impossible to reinstate the original account.
- don’t bombard eBay with dozens of messages, demands for explanations and account reinstatement
As you can see, the causes of an eBay account suspension can vary, and the reinstatement process is complicated with easy-to-make irreversible mistakes, such as creating additional accounts.
A suspended eBay account doesn’t have to mean the end of selling on this platform.
